Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed addressed the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, presenting Ethiopia’s vision for a stronger partnership between BRICS and Africa. His speech focused on building African-centered artificial intelligence, developing critical minerals locally, expanding renewable energy and industrial investment, improving global debt-resolution mechanisms, and strengthening digital and cross-border payment systems. He argued that BRICS countries can combine their capital, technology and markets with Africa’s resources to create greater value where those resources originate. Abiy also connected climate action with economic transformation, highlighted Ethiopia’s preparations to host COP32 in Addis Ababa in 2027, and called for practical cooperation that produces shared economic value, resilience and sustainable growth.
